What our parents are saying...
Why did you choose to send your child to Apparo?
“… because Apparo has provided an environment for my son that allows for him so be social with his peers while also receiving daily therapy interventions that are helping him reach his developmental milestones. Prior to Webb’s enrollment at Apparo, therapeutic intervention was limited to isolated thirty- to sixty-minute sessions a few times per week. Now that we are at Apparo, therapy lasts all day. It may begin in a PT, OT, or Speech pull-out session, but the skills and goals we’re striving towards carry over into the classroom setting, also. The therapy team communicates Webb’s needs with the classroom teachers, and the teachers help to ensure his developmental needs are being met even once his therapy session ends.” - Laura Waddell (Webb)
"…because this is a place where our daughter can learn and grow with help from professionals. Before Addie's enrollment at Apparo, my wife and I were taking Addie to five different therapies throughout the week around town. Apparo put all that in one, familiar, and wonderful setting for our daughter to grow and receive the extra care she needs. The staff, facilities and care have changed all our lives for the better." - Richard Phillips (Adalynn)
“...because before we started at Apparo, it was battle between getting the insurance company to approve physical therapy sessions and trying to help my infant son learn to sit and crawl. We were only getting one therapy session a week, just 30 minutes, and Harvey was not making any progress. Many tears were shed. When we started Apparo in August 2024, Harvey immediately noticed the other babies in the room. He wanted to play as he watched the typical babies move around him. The mix of special needs and typical babies inspired him to sit up in the first few weeks. He got therapy 3 times a week! Now instead of being a lump, my sweet Harvey is crawling, standing with help, and beginning to pull up. He has made more progress in one semester than almost a year’s worth of on-again, off-again therapy visits. We are so glad we were accepted into Apparo! It really is unique and my son knows what the word ‘school’ means. He wiggles and smiles when I tell him we are at school in the morning! Thank you, Apparo!” -Brittany Whisnant (Harvey)
"because finding the right daycare for my son, Blake, who has Autism and struggles with Pica, was a daunting task. However, from the moment we stepped into Apparo Academy, we knew it was the perfect fit. Not only does Apparo Academy provide exceptional care and a nurturing environment, but they also go above and beyond by offering therapy tailored to Blake's needs. The dedicated staff members, trained in handling children with special needs, have been instrumental in Blake's progress. Their understanding, patience, and expertise have helped him thrive and reach milestones we never thought possible.
Blake has shown remarkable improvement in his behavior and overall well-being. I can't express enough gratitude to the entire team at Apparo Academy for their unwavering support and commitment to Blake's development. They've not only provided him with a safe and nurturing environment but have also become an invaluable part of our extended family. I wholeheartedly recommend Apparo Academy to any parent seeking exceptional care and specialized therapy for their child." -Bree Smith (Blake)
From the moment we walked through the doors, we were met with a warmth and understanding that was palpable. The staff greeted us with a genuine eagerness to welcome our child into their family. It was the first time we felt seen and heard in a way that acknowledged our child's potential beyond his disability.
The school offers a comprehensive range of therapy services, including speech, occupational, and physical therapy, as well as behavioral support. What sets Apparo apart is the seamless integration of these services into the daily routine. Therapy isn't seen as a separate entity or an interruption to academic learning; rather, it's woven into the fabric of the school day, ensuring that our child receives a holistic education that caters to all aspects of his development.
The therapists and educators work hand in hand, constantly communicating and collaborating to create individualized plans that address both academic goals and therapeutic needs. It's this personalized approach that has made all the difference. We've seen our child make strides not just academically, but socially and emotionally as well. He's more motivated to meet motor milestones, engaged, and most importantly, happier. Another aspect of the school that cannot be overlooked is the on site nursing staff. Apparo is unique in the fact that the medical staff did not hesitate about current or future concerns regarding our son’s medical condition. They take his safety precautions very seriously, and ensure that everyone is on the same page. In addition, the nurses often make a point to speak to me in person about my son’s care, which is very meaningful. Perhaps what I appreciate the most is the school's commitment to fostering an inclusive environment. Apparo believes in “making children ready”. Children of all abilities learn alongside each other, teaching them invaluable lessons about diversity, empathy, and acceptance from a young age. In addition, Apparo’s Christian values are included in the children’s curriculum, which is of utmost importance to us as a Christian family. This has been incredibly beneficial for our son, and also for me. As an occupational therapist myself, it has been a privilege to get to work alongside him while treating other children and helping to make an impact on their own journeys.
Moreover, the school extends its support beyond the student to the entire family. We've been offered resources, workshops, and a network of other families navigating similar challenges. This holistic approach has been a source of comfort and strength, reminding us that we're not alone in this journey. In closing, this school has been more than an educational institution for our family; it's been a lifeline. For parents searching for a place where their child can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally, I cannot recommend Apparo highly enough. Here, our children are not defined by their disabilities but are celebrated for their unique abilities and potential. Our gratitude for this school and its dedicated staff knows no bounds." -Alexandra Rose (Graham)
